HOW TO PLAY… The Tight 5 Way
Everyone wishing to play must be a tight forward and you and your team are given a handicap score (see below). Your handicap score is how you win or loose a match but it’s also how we determine giving out hardware and the MVPs! So don’t miss the weigh in. Once you have successfully registered your team we will add you to the brackets and begin to look for balance in each pool of play to make the competition appropriate for all. IF YOU MISS THE MINIMUM WEIGHT, you will be asked to either play with an actual 7s team and not ruin the fat kid fun we’re about to have. Thanks for understanding and for helping us keep it tight at tight 5 sevens.
Things to Know…
The scrums have 5 people in them, because a sevens scrum is not a scrum, and that’s not what we’re really about so please wrap your minds around that specific rule change. Keep in mind, it’s a social tournament specific to forwards so if you don’t like it, go to a real sevens tournament.
Solo Registrations
If you don't have enough friends, pay the fee to REGISTER AS INDIVIDUAL in the store and we'll find you friends, team mates and minutes. If you’d like some certainty in the crazy world of whoring out at rugby tournaments register as an individual player, or take your chances on the street.
How to Score
This tournament is decided by teams Handicap Score which you calculate with the formula for MEN, (AGE-31) + (WEIGHT-224) = YOUR HANDICAP SCORE and for LADIES (AGE-31)+(WEIGHT-182) = HANDICAP SCORE. While you can roster 20 (don't forget to print and sign your Team Roster/Waiver to turn in for your official team weigh-in. YOUR MATCHES, WHILE FUN, WILL NOT DECIDE IF YOU WIN OR LOOSE, ONLY YOUR HANDICAP DOES. Once you have your 7 players on the scale your team plays that handicap and we will then start playing rugby.
** IMPORTANT PART**
Rugby is a physical game and involves many contact situations and Rugby players are passionate about playing rugby and while we appreciate your 100% as much as your competitors Tight 5 Sevens is not an opportunity to take shots on guys and gals that have been taking them for 20-40 years. If you’re seen purposefully thrashing people in this full speed but social tournament YOU AND YOUR TEAM MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE. Respect yourself, your opponent and the game
